CHANDIGARH, November 27 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday urged Japanese companies to expand investment in the state’s manufacturing, mobility, electronics, food processing, renewable energy, and global services sectors.
Mann, along with Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, conducted a virtual meeting with a high-level Japanese delegation, including JETRO, JCCII, the Embassy of Japan, and leading firms such as Panasonic, Sumitomo, NEC, Toyota, among others. The interaction is part of preparations for the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit in March 2026 at ISB Mohali.
“Punjab is committed to being a stable, reliable, and investor-friendly destination. Japanese companies in Punjab have already shown strong performance, and we invite them to be part of our industrial transformation,” Mann said. He emphasized Punjab’s strengths in entrepreneurship, resilience, and innovation, and its track record in national food production.
The Chief Minister cited existing Japanese investments across sectors: Mazda, Sumitomo, SML Isuzu, Yanmar, Aichi Steel, Gunma Seiko in manufacturing; Toppan and Oji Holdings in industrial products; Kansai Nerolac, Nissan Chemical in chemicals; and Uniqlo in retail. In agriculture and renewable energy, Yanmar Agricultural Machinery, CLAAS India, and Mitsui & Co. are active partners.
Mann stressed that Punjab’s Invest Punjab unified regulatory model and BRAP recognition as a Top Achiever reflect the state’s commitment to ease of doing business, transparency, and fast approvals. “We aim to create opportunities for youth and a stable environment for investors,” he said.
Arora noted that the FastTrack Punjab platform now offers more than 200 services with guaranteed approvals within 45 working days. Japanese and Indo-Japanese companies appreciated the state’s facilitation, skilled human capital, and proactive engagement, and explored new collaborations in manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, digital technology, and agri-tech.
