Ajnala, December 6 — A family argument turned deadly in Kiampur village on Thursday when a father killed his only son by repeatedly hitting him with a brick, officials said. Harpal Singh has been arrested, and police are investigating the events that led to the attack.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Simarjang Singh, reportedly began arguing with his father around 9 am. Kashmir Singh, the victim’s 85-year-old grandfather, told officers that Simarjang first assaulted Harpal with a stick and dragged him outside the house.
“The argument spiralled. Harpal picked up a brick and struck Simarjang on the head several times,” Kashmir Singh said. Simarjang died instantly from severe head injuries. Kashmir Singh and his wife, Davinder Kaur, witnessed the incident.
DSP Gurvinder Singh said investigators are still determining the cause of the dispute. Harpal’s wife, Sukhbir Kaur, has also been nominated in the FIR, and her involvement is being examined.
