New Delhi, Dec. 9, 2025 — Microsoft has committed US$17.5 billion—its largest investment in Asia—to India, focusing on artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and workforce development. The announcement was made after CEO Satya Nadella met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Nadella said, “To support India’s ambitions, Microsoft is committing US$17.5B—our largest investment ever in Asia—to help build the infrastructure, skills, and sovereign capabilities needed for India’s AI-first future.”
PM Modi welcomed the investment, stating, “Happy to see India being the place where Microsoft will make its largest-ever investment in Asia. The youth of India will harness this opportunity to innovate and leverage the power of AI for a better planet.”
The investment aims to strengthen India’s AI capacities, develop high-tech infrastructure, and create skill-building opportunities for the country’s workforce, positioning India as a global hub for artificial intelligence innovation.
