Fog mishap kill two teachers in Moga

Moga, Dec 14: Dense fog continued to take a toll on road safety in Punjab as two school teachers were killed in a road accident in Moga district on Sunday, officials said.

According to police, the couple’s car plunged into a canal near Sangatpura village in the Baghapurana subdivision after the driver lost control due to extremely low visibility.

“The fog was very thick in the morning hours. Visibility was severely affected at the time of the accident,” a police officer said.

The deceased were identified as Kamaljit Kaur, a teacher deputed for election duty, and her husband Jas Karan Singh, who was originally a resident of Mansa district.

After receiving information, police and local administration officials rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and recovery operations. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination as part of standard procedure.

Police said further proceedings were underway, adding that no foul play was suspected and the incident appeared to be an accident caused by weather conditions.
