Chandigarh, Jan 2: Fog affected visibility in several parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday morning, while minimum temperatures settled above normal across much of the region, the local meteorological department said.
Haryana’s Narnaul was the coldest place, recording a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius.
Elsewhere in the state, Ambala and Karnal each recorded minimum temperatures of 10.4 degrees Celsius, both around four degrees above normal. Hisar registered a low of 12.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees higher than the seasonal average, while Rohtak recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius.
Bhiwani recorded a minimum of 5.5 degrees Celsius, while Sirsa saw a low of 10.8 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
Punjab also reported above-normal minimum temperatures. Amritsar recorded a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana registered 10.4 degrees Celsius and Patiala 11.2 degrees Celsius, all higher than the seasonal average.
Other parts of the state recorded minimum temperatures of 8.8 degrees Celsius in Pathankot, 11 degrees Celsius in Bathinda, 10 degrees Celsius in Faridkot, 7 degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur and 6.7 degrees Celsius in SBS Nagar, according to the department.
