Doda, Jan 22: Ten Indian Army personnel lost their lives and ten others sustained injuries after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Doda district on Thursday morning. The accident occurred at Khannitop on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road while the team was moving for an operational task.
Official sources confirmed that the Army’s Casper vehicle veered off the road and fell approximately 400 meters into the ravine. The impact resulted in the immediate death of ten soldiers. Emergency teams moved the survivors to the Sub-District Hospital in Bhaderwah, who were later airlifted to the Army’s command hospital in Udhampur to receive specialized medical care.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized that the country remains in solidarity with the families of the deceased.
“We will always remember the outstanding service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers,” the Lieutenant Governor stated. He noted that senior officials have been directed to ensure the best possible treatment for the survivors and expressed his prayers for their speedy recovery.
