Chandigarh, Jan 26: All private and government-run schools in Chandigarh will observe a holiday on January 27, according to an official notification by the UT Administration. The announcement followed the successful completion of the Republic Day parade and cultural programs earlier today.

The holiday applies to all students and teaching faculty within the Union Territory. This break comes after the city celebrated the 77th Republic Day with various events centered at the Sector 17 Parade Ground.

Speaking at the main event, UT Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad noted that the city remains a benchmark for urban planning and civic values. He said that the foundations of the city are built upon the spirit of modern India.

Prasad also mentioned that the administration remains dedicated to maintaining the city’s reputation for order and public service.

“The city stands today as a place known for order and has consistently upheld the values of good governance,” the Chief Secretary said while addressing the public.

Officials noted that the day off is a standard practice following the extensive involvement of schools in the Republic Day parade and related ceremonies.
