SAS NAGAR, Jan 30 – Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed appointment letters to 916 recruits on Thursday, marking a milestone of 63,943 government jobs provided under the current administration’s merit-based ‘Mission Rozgar’ initiative.
Addressing a gathering at Vikas Bhawan, the Chief Minister noted that the era of securing government positions through bribery or political influence has been replaced by a transparent mechanism. He mentioned that the integrity of the process is reflected in the fact that not a single appointment from the nearly 64,000 jobs has been legally challenged.

“Earlier, the rights of Punjab’s youth were grabbed by the near and dear ones of those in power,” the Chief Minister said. He added that fulfilling the dreams of national heroes like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh by prioritizing capability over connections is a primary goal for his government.
Alongside the recruitment drive, the Chief Minister announced a major expansion of the state’s healthcare safety net through the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.’ The reform doubles the cashless treatment limit from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh, a move set to benefit approximately 65 lakh families across the state.

“Every family will now get up to ₹10 lakh of cashless treatment. Earlier this limit was ₹5 lakh, which has now been doubled,” Mann said. He noted that the initiative is part of a broader welfare model that includes free electricity for 90 percent of households and the operation of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the state has successfully reduced the daily financial burden on citizens by closing 19 toll plazas, resulting in a collective saving of ₹64 lakh every day for the public. He urged the new recruits to serve with professional integrity and use their positions to facilitate the state’s holistic development.
Reflecting on the fair selection process, newly appointed Dr. Mukesh shared that his selection was based purely on hard work, while staff nurse Tamana from Amritsar stated that the transparent system turned a distant dream into a reality for her family.
Cabinet Ministers Dr. Balbir Singh and Gurmeet Singh Khudian were present during the ceremony to welcome the new state employees.
