Punjab’s textile hubs and skilled workforce are set for a global boost following the historic trade agreement between India and the European Union. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering in Jalandhar on Sunday, stated that the deal would open vast international markets for local manufacturers and create extensive employment avenues for the youth.
The Prime Minister noted that the agreement with 27 European nations serves as a vital catalyst for the national economy, bringing fresh energy to domestic production sectors.
“Another historic step has been taken to infuse new energy into the nation’s economy. An agreement has been reached on a trade deal between India and the European Union, which the world is calling the ‘Mother of all deals’,” Prime Minister Modi said.
The state’s manufacturing centers, particularly those in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Amritsar, are expected to see immediate benefits due to their deep integration with the garment and textile trade. This partnership is designed to provide local industries with a more direct and profitable route to European consumers.
“Millions of people are connected to the textile sector here, and now Punjab’s textile industry will get access to new and larger global markets,” the Prime Minister stated.
Beyond industrial output, the deal focuses on leveraging the professional capabilities of the local population. The Prime Minister mentioned that the international nature of the pact would allow the state’s talent to compete at a higher level.
“Punjab is known for its skilled workforce, and this trade deal will bring immense benefits to our brothers and sisters here,” he added.
