Chennai, August 12: Emergency measures were briefly activated at Chennai International Airport after an IndiGo aircraft operating from Kolkata reported an inoperative left engine minutes before its scheduled arrival. Flight 6E-723 landed safely on Runway 25 at 11:37 PM, ensuring that all 224 passengers and crew members disembarked unharmed.
The technical issue was identified as the plane approached its destination, prompting air traffic control to enforce emergency readiness protocols at 11:29 PM. Following the safe touchdown and initial assessment, airport operations returned to standard status within twenty minutes.
“The pilots made a priority landing at Chennai International Airport following standard operating procedures,” an IndiGo spokesperson declared.
“All passengers and crew members safely disembarked, and the aircraft is currently undergoing necessary checks and maintenance,” the representative maintained.
“The aircraft will resume operations after receiving the relevant clearances,” the spokesperson added.
Aviation safety protocols remained fully operational throughout the brief period to manage the incoming aircraft safely. Technical inspections are currently underway to inspect the power unit before the plane receives clearance for future service.
