Chandigarh, July 22: The Aam Aadmi Party launched a sharp critique of central agricultural policies, warning that unfair trade agreements risk inflicting long-term damage on domestic farming communities. AAP Punjab State Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu maintained that the administration’s current approach relies on security force deployment rather than meaningful engagement with key stakeholders.
Speaking to reporters, Pannu affirmed that stopping farmers at the Haryana-Punjab border points creates unnecessary friction, pointing out that agricultural workers seeking to reach Kisan Ghat in Delhi are conducting peaceful demonstrations. The party highlighted the contradiction of restricting state farmers while advocating for agricultural welfare in public forums.
Highlighting parallel concerns regarding youth demonstrations, party representatives maintained that police actions against students demanding administrative reforms in national examinations demonstrated a disregard for democratic feedback. AAP reaffirmed that party leadership, including National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, remains actively engaged in offering support services to affected families.
The party leadership asserted that past agricultural demonstrations demonstrated the need for preventive dialogue rather than confrontation, urging immediate administrative measures to restore open transit routes between states.
“When cheap foreign agricultural produce floods the Indian market, our farmers will be pushed into an economic disaster. The BJP government is leading Punjab’s farmers and the country’s agriculture into a dark tunnel,” asserted Baltej Pannu.
AAP leaders concluded by calling for an immediate policy review to safeguard domestic agricultural interests and ensure peaceful public assembly.
