New Delhi, Feb 15: The Indian Consulate in San Francisco confirmed on Sunday the recovery of the body of 22-year-old Saketh Sreenivasaiah, a postgraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, who had been missing since early last week. Sreenivasaiah, originally from Karnataka, was enrolled in the university’s Master of Science program before he disappeared on Monday. Local authorities in the Park Hills neighborhood previously located his backpack containing his laptop and passport on a doorstep, leading to an intensified search by law enforcement.

The Indian mission affirmed its commitment to supporting the grieving family during the repatriation process. Officials maintained that they are working closely with American authorities to ensure the student’s remains are returned to India as soon as possible. The Consulate stated in a public announcement that local police have confirmed the recovery of the body of the missing Indian student.

Consular representatives asserted that they remain in constant communication with the student’s relatives to navigate the necessary legal and logistical hurdles. The Consulate declared it stands ready to provide all necessary assistance to the family, including coordination with local authorities and arrangements for the repatriation of mortal remains to India at the earliest.
