CHANDIGARH, Feb 21 — Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains on Saturday announced that 305 students from government schools across the state have cleared the first session of the JEE Main 2026. This figure shows a marked improvement over the 2025 session, which saw 187 students from similar institutions qualifying.
The minister maintained that the current success rate is only the beginning, as additional students are expected to qualify following the second round of examinations. He noted that the accomplishments of these students, many of whom come from economically disadvantaged families, prove the strengthening of the public school system.
“The figure is set to rise further after the results of the second attempt are declared,” Bains asserted. He further noted that the state’s ‘PACE’ coaching portal played a critical role in preparing the students for the competitive exam.
In a specific mention of regional performance, the minister pointed out that five successful candidates emerged from government schools in the Anandpur Sahib segment. He stated that the government remains committed to providing high-quality coaching and resources to ensure students from all backgrounds can compete at the national level.
