CHANDIGARH, February 28, 2026: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared on Friday that the opening of South Asia’s largest animal feed plant in Wazirabad marks a “big leap” for the state’s dairy and agro-economy. In a statement following the commencement of operations at the ₹300 crore Cargill facility, the Chief Minister maintained that the project is a testament to the peaceful industrial environment and progressive policies established by his government.
The Chief Minister asserted that the new unit will significantly boost the income of dairy farmers by ensuring the local availability of high-quality cattle feed. He stated that the investment is a significant achievement ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026. “The Punjab Government is fully committed to providing every possible support and ensuring a business-friendly ecosystem,” Mann affirmed.
Highlighting the scale of the 15-acre project, the Chief Minister noted that the plant’s 4.5 lakh metric tonne annual capacity makes it a leader in the South Asian region. He maintained that after the success of Cargill’s unit in Bathinda, this second major facility further deepens the state’s agri-processing capacity. “These investments are generating employment opportunities for the youth and accelerating Punjab’s overall economic development,” he stated.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further noted that the scientifically formulated feed would enhance the quality of milk produced in the state. He asserted that his administration is working tirelessly to attract global players to the agriculture sector. The Chief Minister concluded by stating that the government’s focus remains on sustainable industrial growth that directly benefits the grassroots farming community.
