National Outage Paralyses Jio Fiber Services Across India

Broadband and fixed-line services remain suspended; MyJio app also inaccessible

Chandigarh, April 12: Lakhs of subscribers across India were left without internet connectivity on Sunday morning as a massive technical snag hit Reliance Jio’s Fiber and AirFiber networks. The disruption, which began in the early hours, has knocked out broadband, WiFi, and fixed-line telephone services, making it one of the most significant outages in the company’s history.

The outage has caused widespread frustration as the MyJio app, the primary tool for customer support and grievance redressal, also stopped functioning. Users reported being unable to log complaints or check for restoration updates through official digital channels. A senior functionary of Reliance Jio affirmed that technical teams are currently working to resolve the issue. The official stated that services are expected to be restored shortly, though no specific cause for the system failure was provided.

The scale of the disruption was mirrored on social media, where the hashtag #JioDown trended as consumers shared reports of non-functional routers. According to internet monitor NetBlocks, the connectivity issues have affected a broad geographic area, including Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and several other states. Users noted that the inability to access even the website or recharge portals added to the difficulty of the situation.

Jio, which maintains a subscriber base of over 500 million, has faced similar challenges recently. Earlier this month, the network experienced degraded speeds and portal failures across multiple regions. Officials stated that while teams are scrambling to isolate the fault, customers should continue to monitor official social media handles for a formal timeline on the restoration of services.
