by TheReportingTimes

Jammu, April 30: The Railway Protection Force has activated an intensive security grid to safeguard the Jammu–Srinagar–Baramulla rail link following the flagging off of the Vande Bharat service by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Officials declared Thursday that the 327-kilometre route will be monitored by an elite 21-member team alongside a network of rapid response units.

Principal Chief Security Commissioner Pankaj Gangwar affirmed that the security plan prioritizes both the train’s journey and the physical integrity of the rail infrastructure. He stated that the deployment of CORAS commandos is a key component of this protection, ensuring that highly trained personnel are present to manage any security challenges.

The security framework utilizes a multi-tiered approach, incorporating a pilot vehicle to clear the tracks daily before the train’s departure. Gangwar maintained that the specialized tunnel security system features alarms and escape tunnels to facilitate emergency evacuations. He asserted that both ends of every tunnel are strictly guarded to prevent unusual activity.

The project represents a massive engineering feat, including nearly a thousand bridges, aimed at maintaining constant connectivity for the region. RPF representatives stated that the security posts, established at frequent intervals, allow for a coordinated response between various law enforcement branches. They maintained that these measures are essential for the smooth operation of the prestigious Vande Bharat service in the union territory.
