CHANDIGARH, May 11 — Results for the PSEB Class 10 examinations released on Monday show a significant performance gap between genders, as girls outshined boys across Punjab. Harleen Sharma claimed the first position statewide, missing a perfect score by only four marks.

According to official figures, 4,661 students out of the 7,952 who appeared successfully cleared the exam. While the overall success rate for the state was 94.52%, officials asserted that the higher pass percentage among girls was a defining feature of this year’s academic outcome.

“Harleen Sharma has set a high benchmark for future candidates,” a senior education official stated. He affirmed that the competitive spirit among the top three scorers, who were separated by only a single mark, demonstrates the high quality of education in Punjab’s public and private institutions.

Government schools recorded a pass rate of 59.46%, maintaining a steady performance level. Geographically, Amritsar and Ferozepur were identified as the leading districts for academic success. In contrast, districts such as Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib were noted for having the lowest passing metrics this session.

Education department officials maintained that the transition to modern teaching methods has assisted students in achieving these milestones. They declared that the board will continue to analyze the data to address the performance disparities observed in lower-ranking districts.
