SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB, May 12 — Large crowds gathered at village Saahib Chand on Sunday as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann hosted a Lok Milni to interact directly with the people. The Chief Minister used the platform to assert that Punjab’s peace and brotherhood remain the top priorities of his government, vowing to resist any attempts at communal polarization.

The Chief Minister maintained that the social bonding among the people of Punjab is exceptionally strong, as residents celebrate all festivals together. He stated that political parties attempting to divide the electorate on religious lines would be rejected by the wise people of the state. Mann noted that the state has previously witnessed the damaging effects of instability and would not return to that era.

Addressing the gathering, Mann stated, “The social bonding amongst people is already very strong and people should come together to further strengthen it.” He affirmed that his government remains focused on development-oriented and citizen-centric policies, citing the state’s top ranking in foundational education in the NITI Aayog 2026 report as a significant achievement.

The Chief Minister also detailed the stringent measures introduced through the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. He stated that the law was drafted after extensive consultation with legal experts to ensure its permanence and strength. Mann affirmed that the amendment ensures that those who deliberately orchestrate sacrilege incidents will no longer find refuge in legal technicalities.

Mann further noted the success of various welfare schemes, including the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and irrigation reforms that have increased canal water usage. He asserted that transparent governance has allowed for the transformation of schools and hospitals, fulfilling the promises made to the electorate.
