CHANDIGARH, MAY 20 — A comprehensive evaluation by the Department of School Education and Literacy has positioned Punjab at the top of the national Performance Grading Index 2.0, marking a significant milestone for the state’s public instruction framework.

The state secured the prestigious Prachesta-1 operational grade in the federal report, a distinction matched only by the administrative capital of Chandigarh. The performance metrics allowed Punjab to surpass several states with historically high literacy baselines, shifting the regional balance of educational development.

The structural evaluation relies on six distinct parameters designed to measure the overall health of regional schooling systems, focusing heavily on classroom interactions, child protection, digital integration, and teacher education. Punjab demonstrated its strongest performance in the critical Learning Outcomes and Quality division, which monitors student mastery of mathematics, science, language, and social studies.

“This victory belongs to you. Your concerted efforts turned Sikhya Kranti from a vision into reality,” Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated in an address directed toward state educational personnel. He maintained that surpassing prominent regions like Delhi and Maharashtra serves as a clear validation of recent classroom reforms.

The administrative data compiled from individual districts revealed that Barnala clinched the highest performance tier within the state boundary, with several neighboring districts meeting the criteria for advanced institutional categories. Government spokespersons affirmed that the ongoing emphasis on upgrading physical facilities and eliminating rote learning methodologies has effectively transformed the state’s school infrastructure into a resilient model for future development.
