Srinagar, June 29: Government and security agencies have finalized a unified operational framework for the annual Amarnath Yatra following the successful completion of the opening religious ceremonies. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the initial prayers at the mountain shrine, marking the ceremonial launch of the pilgrimage calendar. The current season introduces enhanced public facilities along both the traditional southern route and the central Kashmir path, with field operations structured to maintain high safety standards throughout the summer.

The state apparatus has initiated a multi-layered support system to manage the high volume of incoming travelers. Lieutenant Governor Sinha maintained that every stakeholder is dedicated to facilitating a secure and well-organized pilgrimage. He asserted that comprehensive infrastructural upgrades, backed by the active participation of local service providers, have placed the administration in a state of complete readiness.

“Every stakeholder is committed to ensuring a safe, hassle-free, and memorable pilgrimage for all pilgrims,” Sinha affirmed, noting that the official movement of registered tour batches will begin early next month.

The 57-day schedule, which concludes on August 28, 2026, is being monitored by a high-level committee comprising civil and security leadership. The inaugural event brought together key administrative planners, including Shrine Board CEO Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and Special DG S.J.M. Gillani, alongside Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg and Kashmir IGP V.K. Birdi.

Local monitoring teams under Baltal Nodal Officer Rahul Yadav, DIG Rajiv Omprakash, and Deputy Commissioners Jatin Kishore and Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat have completed final checking routines for transit camps, communication networks, and medical emergency centers. Information Director Shreya Singhal indicated that real-time updates regarding weather conditions and route statuses will be provided regularly to ensure public safety from the start of the journey on July 3.
