Chandigarh, July 20: A total of 882 students from Punjab government schools qualified the NEET-UG 2026 entrance examination, marking a landmark achievement for the state’s public education network. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains congratulated the successful candidates, declaring that targeted academic support programs continue to yield strong results for students from diverse backgrounds.
The Education Minister stated that the state administration views public education as a primary vehicle for social transformation and economic empowerment. He noted that academic preparation initiatives, including the PACE mentorship program, provided free online classes and practice exams that enabled rural and suburban students to compete effectively at the national level.
Highlighting the growth of state programs, Harjot Singh Bains asserted that government schools have steadily improved their results, rising from 437 qualifiers two years ago to 882 this session. He cited success stories like that of Ludhiana student Prateek Kumar, whose father maintained that public support programs enabled his son to pursue a medical career despite a modest household income.
The Minister declared that the government remains focused on sustaining educational excellence across every district. He asserted that comprehensive infrastructure upgrades and specialized entrance exam preparation will remain central to the state’s long-term development strategy.
