Haridwar, July 22: IIT Roorkee addressed recent public discussion surrounding an internal email, affirming that its advisory on political engagement is part of standard annual administrative practice. The communication was issued after certain campus members shared personal views regarding active political movements across digital channels.

The advisory highlights long-standing conduct regulations that require prior permission for participating in political activities or making statements in broadcast, print, or electronic media. The guidelines aim to safeguard the premier institute’s primary academic focus while preventing public utterances that might affect institutional ties with government bodies.

Addressing social media comments regarding the notice, institute representatives stated that the guidelines apply consistently across academic sessions. Management noted that institutional rules naturally balance individual academic pursuits with administrative responsibilities.

The institute reaffirmed that personal commentary published by individuals on personal accounts does not reflect official endorsement or policy.

“IIT Roorkee is committed to maintaining the distinction between personal expressions and official institutional communications. Any views or content shared by individuals in their personal capacity are their own and should not be interpreted as reflecting the position or endorsement of the Institute,” declared the institute in an official statement.

Administration officials concluded that standard guidelines will continue to apply across all academic departments as scheduled.
