CHANDIGARH, JULY 26 — The Aam Aadmi Party welcomed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing the development as a major triumph for students and youth protesting paper leaks and administrative lapses in national examinations.
The announcement coincided with statewide ‘Thali Bajao, Tanashah Bhagao’ demonstrations organized by AAP across every district of Punjab against the Central Government’s education policies.
“Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan is a powerful indictment of youth power. PM Modi must accept it ASAP. Finally, BJP has bowed to the will of the youngsters,” stated senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
He added, “Hope this leads to real reforms — revamping the education system, fixing exam leaks, and sweeping changes for students. Inquilab Zindabad.”
Extending support to the student movement, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang declared that the resignation marks a victory for democratic rights and public accountability.
“The BJP government had tried every possible means to suppress the democratic movement, but the courage and unity of students ultimately forced the Centre to retreat,” AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang asserted.
He maintained that structural overhauls are necessary to safeguard candidate futures, noting, “The protesting students were lathi-charged, many were hospitalized, and even attempts were made to disrupt food arrangements for demonstrators. Despite these hardships, students remained united and continued their peaceful struggle until the government was compelled to act.”
The party leadership affirmed it will continue advocating for transparent recruitment and examination frameworks across all public platforms.
