CHANDIGARH – Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a comprehensive attack on the Centre during Friday’s Vidhan Sabha session, demanding the immediate cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and condemning political interference in constitutional bodies.
Mann argued that democratic foundations are being undermined as central agencies like the ED and CBI are used to pressure political opponents, while voter deletion drives disproportionately affect marginalized citizens. Beyond electoral concerns, the Chief Minister raised red flags regarding upcoming international trade agreements, cautioning that foreign commercial interests must not compromise Indian agriculture or undermine the historic achievements of the country’s farming movement.
Reiterating Punjab’s resolve to fight institutional overreach, Mann called for complete transparency across administrative processes—from electoral roll revisions to trade negotiations—emphasizing that no government holds the mandate to compromise the principles laid down by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
