Ramban, August 7 — An extensive investigation and manhunt are currently underway following a security breach on Friday morning, where police fired upon a Scorpio that evaded a routine stop in Ramban. The suspects successfully escaped on foot, leaving their vehicle behind in the vicinity.
The incident unfolded when the SUV, which was navigating the highway from Srinagar to Jammu, approached the heavily monitored police check post near JP Gate in Chanderkote. Officers signalled for the driver to pull over, but the individual behind the wheel deliberately ignored the command, instead accelerating rapidly toward the Nashri side of the district.
Reacting to the sudden evasion, police forces deployed three gunshots to prevent the vehicle’s escape. A coordinated search effort was immediately mobilized to track down the fleeing car and its passengers.
“The vehicle was later intercepted and recovered, but the occupants had fled from the spot before security forces could apprehend them,” an official asserted.
Authorities are currently gathering forensic evidence from the abandoned SUV, and regional security teams remain on high alert as the search for the occupants continues.
