LUDHIANA: The Punjab Police have refuted allegations of open substance abuse in Ludhiana’s Dugri area, clarifying that a widely shared video posted by BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu was artificially created for digital traction. The viral clip, which prompted public commentary online after being uploaded with critical captions regarding state governance, showed a local youth appearing incapacitated. Subsequent police investigation revealed that the performance was deliberately executed to generate viral social media content.
Police authorities located the individual in Model Town shortly after the footage began circulating across social channels. Official statements from ACP S.S. Cheema affirmed that the individual confessed to enacting the scene alongside an acquaintance to gain followers. Officers noted that the youth had a prior history of addiction but had abandoned drug use prior to making the video. Medical tests have been ordered to establish definitive proof regarding the presence of any intoxicants.
Law enforcement authorities emphasized that the proliferation of unverified viral videos creates an exaggerated picture of the ground reality across the state. Officials declared that sharing unauthenticated media risks misinforming the public and defaming the region. Senior personnel maintained that legal proceedings will proceed based on the conclusive medical reports, underscoring the necessity for responsible social media usage by public figures and citizens alike.
