The controversy escalated after BJP MP Harbhajan Singh posted footage online, claiming that the evil eye has struck our Punjab and calling on citizens to save Punjab’s youth from ruin. Arvind Kejriwal directly confronted the opposition over the coordinated posts, asking, “Many BJP people spread this lie together yesterday. Did the order come from the PMO? Does the PMO spread lies in the country?” AAP leaders asserted that the political opposition engaged in a deliberate attempt to defame the region through false online messaging.
Official fact-checking by state law enforcement subsequently debunked the claims made in the viral social media posts. Punjab Police affirmed that the video being circulated originated from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, and maintained no association with local police agencies. Officials declared that adding regional audio to outside videos does not make them local incidents, urging social media users to verify facts and locations prior to making public assertions. Party representatives asserted that while the government continues to address public health challenges, deceptive political tactics aimed at tarnishing the state’s reputation will not stand.
