LEH, AUGUST 20: United States Ambassador Sergio Gor arrived in Leh to launch the Ladakh leg of his official regional visit following a brief delay at Srinagar Airport due to adverse weather conditions. Once flight operations resumed, the ambassador traveled directly to Leh under tight security protocol.
The envoy highlighted the strategic importance of his regional interactions following meetings with local authorities.
“Gor expressed Washington’s desire to strengthen its engagement with Jammu and Kashmir, describing the region as an important part of India,” diplomatic sources declared.
During his stop in Srinagar, Ambassador Gor conferred with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on matters of shared interest, characterizing the dialogue as positive and laying groundwork for future talks in Washington and New Delhi.
The visit marks the ambassador’s initial tour of both Union Territories since assuming his diplomatic post. Government sources indicated that the ongoing outreach highlights the value both nations place on high-level interactions and regional diplomacy.
