New Delhi, Sept 22: Following the successful restoration of the Ajnar River, activist Surendra Singh Choudhary, known online as Bittu Tabahi, led a community cleanup campaign along the Yamuna River in the national capital. The four-and-a-half-hour drive successfully removed 585 kg of accumulated waste, targeting heavily littered stretches covered in plastic and organic discarded items.
Choudhary affirmed that the drive serves as the first phase of a broader multi-day environmental effort aimed at inspiring public participation. His previous conservation work in Madhya Pradesh attracted global attention, including praise from international ocean cleanup pioneers, validating the role of digital platforms in mobilizing community welfare drives. Volunteers who joined the Yamuna initiative assisted in clearing the shoreline, turning a solo effort into a broader community campaign.
Digital audiences responded enthusiastically to videos documenting the drive, with thousands asserting the importance of protecting urban water resources. Choudhary declared that his journey will continue across various regions to spread awareness about river cleanliness, with plans already finalized for upcoming drives in neighboring Haryana.
