CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that Punjab’s fight against drugs relies on a synchronized approach uniting law enforcement, educational institutions, community volunteers, and healthcare workers. The ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ initiative establishes a five-point structure to dismantle supply lines while simultaneously expanding prevention, reporting mechanisms, and recovery pathways.
The state government maintained that law enforcement agencies conducted 79,293 public meetings alongside ongoing enforcement actions to build direct community involvement. Educational programmes have been paired with teacher-sensitisation drives covering 13 districts in the initial phase, aiming to train nearly 25,000 educators to support vulnerable students. Community vigilance has been operationalized through 1.25 lakh volunteers enrolled in local defence committees and trained on digital reporting tools like the Nasha Mukti App. Combined with state-wide healthcare facility revamps, the government stated that the strategy aims to dismantle drug supply while offering effective support for individuals seeking recovery.
