Patiala, April 19: The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana has provided a vital safety net for a family in Patiala, covering the extensive costs of uterine cancer treatment for a local woman. Gurpinder Jeet Singh affirmed that the state-sponsored health program allowed his mother, Baljit Kaur, to undergo complex surgery and multiple chemotherapy sessions that would have otherwise cost nearly ₹10 lakh.

Singh, who earns a living as a driver, stated that the diagnosis brought immediate financial fear, as early clinical visits quickly exhausted the family’s savings. He affirmed that the discovery of the government’s cashless treatment scheme changed the trajectory of his mother’s care. Someone at the hospital mentioned it, Singh declared, noting that he initially doubted the possibility of such comprehensive support before completing the enrollment.

The treatment process involved a rigorous schedule of 12 chemotherapy rounds followed by a high-stakes eight-hour surgery. Doctors maintained that the lack of financial delays allowed for the best possible medical outcome. Singh stated that seeing his mother recover at home after her time in the ICU was a testament to the role of government support in high-cost medical cases.

The state’s health department reaffirmed its commitment to expanding these services to ensure no resident is forced to choose between treatment and financial ruin. Singh stated that the family’s journey from despair to relief was made possible by the state’s robust legal and healthcare framework. He affirmed that Kaur is now speaking and eating more as she continues her slow but steady recovery.
