GURUGRAM, SEPT 30: A cyber crime investigation has been launched in Gurugram after an Italian national filed a complaint alleging she was defrauded of €1,000 by a local man on the pretext of marriage.
The victim, identified as Paola Bertolini, personally presented her ordeal to ACP (Cyber) Gaurav Phogat, detailing how the accused established contact with her through social media platforms. After gaining her trust over several months with assurances of marriage, the suspect allegedly convinced her to send money online before breaking off all contact.
Police representatives declared that the cyber cell initiated immediate preliminary checks upon receiving the complaint and subsequently registered a formal FIR.
Investigators maintained that financial transactions and digital communication logs provided by the victim are under verification to identify the suspect and take appropriate legal action.
