Chandigarh, Oct 3: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) escalated political pressure on the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and SGPC leadership on Friday, pressing for public accountability regarding financial and administrative irregularities connected to an ongoing controversy at religious guesthouses.
AAP spokesperson Baltej Pannu asserted that SGPC officials must clarify the origin, purpose, and accounting details of funds allegedly collected by various party representatives. He further criticized comments made on social media by senior Akali leaders regarding the complainant’s background, maintaining that the core focus must remain on administrative compliance and institutional integrity at sacred sites. Pannu declared that the state government expects full cooperation with law enforcement agencies as investigating authorities examine the timeline and details of the case.
In response, Akali Dal leadership maintained that political opponents are seeking to target community institutions, asserting that all administrative matters remain subject to internal organizational review.
