Chandigarh, Oct 4: The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 report revealed a decline for Panjab University, placing the traditional campus in the 701-800 band after it had maintained a position in the 601-800 range over the previous three iterations. The assessment framework evaluates institutions across five core dimensions, including teaching standards, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. Private regional entity Shoolini University posted the strongest placement in the region, securing a spot within the 451-500 global tier.
Addressing the released metrics, Registrar Yajvender Pal Verma declared that the evaluation process captures varied institutional strengths and that internal data shows year-on-year improvements in key areas. He affirmed that core research metrics remained robust, though acknowledging that specific resource factors could influence institutional outputs. The report placed premier domestic entities such as IISc Bengaluru at 254th, while placing Panjab University alongside other public and private peers like Delhi University, Thapar Institute, and Chitkara University in the 701-800 tier. The ranking publication follows recent interactions where Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan encouraged university authorities to pursue elevated benchmarks in academic standards and institutional innovation
