Haryana Mandates Strict Pollution Certification Checks at Fuel Outlets

State transport department warns motorists of Rs 10,000 fines as petrol pumps in NCR districts enforce new refuelling norms

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, Oct 4: The Vehicle owners in Haryana’s NCR districts face fuel denial if they fail to present a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate, following fresh directives issued to fuel stations by state transport authorities. The regulatory protocol requires all retail outlets dispensing petrol, diesel, and compressed natural gas to inspect emission compliance certificates before serving motorists. Operational guidelines specify that fuel station staff must perform physical verifications until automated license plate recognition cameras are systematically integrated with the central emission database.

Official directives affirmed that motorists unable to show valid documentation will be redirected to nearby authorized testing facilities, while retail operators maintain logs of non-compliant vehicle registration numbers. Authorities maintained that operating an uncertified vehicle on public roads risks e-challans and statutory fines reaching up to Rs 10,000. The transport department asserted that the enforcement initiative enforces regional environmental standards in letter and spirit, warning that retail operators failing to implement verification protocols will face strict statutory penalties.
