Lucknow, Oct 6: Over 1.27 lakh Shikshamitra teachers across Uttar Pradesh received a major financial boost on Tuesday as the state government released ₹460.23 crore to fund an upgraded monthly honorarium for September and October. The payout reflects a revised monthly rate of ₹18,000 per teacher, up from the previous ₹10,000 stipend under the Samagra Shiksha framework.
The state basic education department allocated ₹230.11 crore per month for 1,27,841 eligible teachers operating in the 2026–27 session. District-level education officers were instructed to complete the disbursement process immediately based on local teacher counts.
“The Yogi government has strengthened the economic interests of Shikshamitra teachers by significantly increasing their honorarium,” declared Sandeep Singh, Minister of State for Basic Education. He maintained that the ₹460.23-crore release demonstrates the administration’s resolve to support frontline educators.
The pay hike marks one of the most significant upward revisions for primary para-teachers in the state’s recent history.
“This will enable them to discharge their responsibilities in schools with greater enthusiasm and commitment and contribute to strengthening the learning process of students,” asserted Monika Rani, Director General of School Education, who emphasized that financial stability fosters better learning environments for students.
District magistrate offices and basic education officers have initiated payroll clearance routines to ensure the enhanced stipends reach all beneficiaries promptly.
