Chandigarh, OCT 6: The Punjab Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, cleared the landmark Ranjitgarh Development Authority (RDA) Bill, 2026 on Monday to drive sustainable eco-tourism near the Shahpur Kandi and Ranjit Sagar dam sites. The legislative measure establishes a high-level body headed by the Chief Minister to lead master planning, project execution, and land management across the region.
Alongside regional tourism plans, the Cabinet delivered key employment updates. Non-teaching contractual employees under the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES) secured official concurrence for service regularization under standardized pay scales.
“The creation of the RDA provides a streamlined governance model that integrates environmental safeguards with local economic opportunities,” declared a representative from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Educational healthcare frameworks also saw significant progress following an approved amendment to Appendix-B of the Punjab Nursing Education Service Rules (Group B), 2016. The updated rules create a promotion pathway for eligible regular Staff Nurses and Nursing Sisters holding an M.Sc. in Nursing to assume Tutor positions at Government Nursing Colleges in Amritsar and Patiala.
“Regularizing contractual staff and opening promotional avenues for dedicated nursing educators aligns directly with our goal of transparent, growth-oriented public administration,” maintained state officials following the cabinet session.
To streamline administrative logistics, the cabinet also authorized new Driver vacancies within the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer by reallocating existing permanent support posts.
