Past U-Turns and Controversies Undermine Akali Dal’s Credibility, Says Baltej Pannu

CHANDIGARH — The Aam Aadmi Party dismissed the Akali Dal’s ongoing outreach efforts, maintaining that voters have not forgotten the party’s historical U-turns on key regional and agricultural issues.

Speaking to reporters, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu asserted that political slogans and new campaigns cannot erase public memory regarding the previous government’s tenure. He highlighted that prominent Akali leaders previously defended central agricultural ordinances that faced intense pushback from the farming community across the state.

“The people of Punjab have not forgotten the stand of Badals on three farm laws, the 2015 beadbi incidents, the Kotkapura police action or the Behbal Kalan firing,” Baltej Pannu declared. “No amount of political drama or new slogans can erase these memories. Punjabis know the difference between those who stand with them and those who repeatedly betray their trust.”

The spokesperson also raised questions regarding the handling of long-standing demands concerning the release of Sikh prisoners, known as Bandi Singhs, pointing out discrepancies between past letters written by party leaders and their public posture. He added that transparency is essential when addressing institutional management and religious matters, rather than silence during periods of public scrutiny.

Concluding his remarks, the media in-charge maintained that the electorate values consistency and genuine service over political campaigns launched in anticipation of electoral cycles.
