Bathinda, Oct 26: Police in Bathinda initiated criminal proceedings against two suspects after a local resident was found dead with an injection syringe stuck in his arm in Paras Ram Nagar. Local welfare volunteers transported the body of thirty-two-year-old Ramesh Kumar to the civil hospital for postmortem examination after locating him late at night.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh of the Canal Colony police station affirmed that officers acted on confidential information to register charges against Buta Singh and Biru. Police teams are executing raids to track down the duo, while formal family statements are being documented to assist the ongoing probe.

The casualty occurred against the backdrop of regional public outrage and demonstrations surrounding the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in neighboring Mansa. Tensions in the district were further heightened following complaints from Doomwali village, where community members reported open narcotics trading.

In response to local reports, police forces carried out cordon and search operations in the area, seizing illicit substances and detaining multiple persons as law enforcement intensifies its crackdown on local drug distribution networks.
