New Delhi, October 27: The Supreme Court directed petitioners to file their rejoinder within ten days following the Election Commission’s formal submission upholding the legality of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
The bench, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant alongside Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, simultaneously issued notice on a new petition filed by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Dola Sen. The petition challenges procedural actions during the Bihar revision drive, alleging that modifications to voter registration Form 6 were executed without judicial consent.
Senior counsel Maneka Guruswamy, representing the MP, asserted that the election authority erroneously claimed judicial clearance for the disputed Form 6 modifications.
Defending its actions, the Election Commission maintained that the Special Intensive Revision adhered strictly to statutory mandates. The commission stated that the decisions governing the exercise were reached with the unanimous consent of all panel members.
