NEW DELHI, OCT 30: Inclement weather in New Delhi has forced the INDIA bloc to defer its high-profile ‘public impeachment’ demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Alliance sources declared that the symbolic proceeding will now move to October 31.
The protest was arranged at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence following venue denials elsewhere in the capital. Key alliance figures, including Derek O’Brien, Harendra Malik, Mahua Maji, John Brittas, and senior Congress leadership, had met to structure the demonstration aimed at addressing electoral roll revisions.
Opposition parties maintained that the campaign addresses critical concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Leaders asserted that administrative hurdles and venue rejections reflect efforts to weaken opposition oversight regarding voting integrity.
The revised schedule places the demonstration just ahead of the alliance’s planned mass gathering at Ramlila Ground, where opposition parties intend to step up demands for the Chief Election Commissioner’s removal and electoral roll transparency.
