Ludhiana, Oct 30: A 27-year-old man lost his life in Ludhiana’s Fieldganj area following a severe fire and subsequent structural collapse caused by exploding firecrackers stored in an upper-floor apartment.
The victim, Sahil Sabharwal, was trapped when an interior wall caved in following intense blast pressure. The premises belong to local AAP figure Goldy Sabharwal, who operated a clothing establishment on the ground floor.
Nearby residents asserted that a significant volume of fireworks had been stored in the building prior to the incident. Family representatives maintained that the stored items were leftover stock from the previous season that accidentally caught fire near the kitchen area.
Police personnel and fire tenders brought the situation under control to prevent further spread to adjacent commercial structures. Authorities declared that legal and forensic assessments will proceed to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy.
