The India Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning as a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal tracks towards the eastern coast. Weather officials confirmed that the system is slated to deepen into a depression before strengthening into a full cyclonic storm, with a potential landfall near the Andhra Pradesh coast expected around November 3.
The track places the west-central Bay of Bengal directly in the system’s path by November 2. The alert comes shortly after the destruction caused by Cyclone Arnab across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, prompting regional authorities to prepare for another spell of severe weather.
According to IMD forecasts, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall will affect multiple districts across Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry’s Yanam region, Rayalaseema, and Odisha between November 2 and November 4. Emergency services and coastal advisories are being monitored closely as the cyclone advances.
