Florida, Nov 2: A private aviation disaster claimed nine lives on Sunday when a Bombardier Learjet 60 crashed near a residential development in Florida.

According to flight statements released by transportation authorities, the plane departed Texas bound for the Bahamas before encountering difficulties over south Florida.

Addressing reporters at the crash site, state and local leaders confirmed that the impact left a deep crater near an access road, prompting protective evacuations for roughly 600 area residents. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy affirmed the severity of the loss as federal teams arrived on scene.

Flight data and radio records indicated that weather in the vicinity included heavy rainfall and severe atmospheric instability. Cockpit communications documented attempts by the flight crew to manage airframe icing before loss of control occurred.

The NTSB and FAA maintained primary jurisdiction over the investigation to establish the official sequence of events leading to the crash.
