Ravi Bhagat Appointed Principal Secretary to Punjab CM

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, March 24 — The Punjab government has appointed 2006-batch IAS officer Ravi Bhagat as the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He was previously serving as Special Principal Secretary to the CM.

Bhagat’s promotion comes as part of a broader administrative reshuffle in the state. In addition to his new role, he will also hold the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads), and Secretary of the Punjab Rural Development Board.

The position had been vacant since December 2024, following the retirement of senior IAS officer VK Singh, a 1990-batch ISS officer, on November 30, 2024.

This appointment follows a series of key administrative changes in Punjab. In October 2024, the government replaced Chief Secretary Anurag Verma with 1992-batch IAS officer KAP Sinha—the third CS change in two and a half years.

Ravi Bhagat, 48, holds an MPhil in Geopolitics, along with an MA in Regional Development, an M in Public Policy, and an MSc in Public Policy and Management. He studied at Jalandhar University, Punjab, and has held various key positions as Deputy Commissioner and in state government departments across multiple districts.
