Jalandhar, April 21:— A tragic accident occurred this morning in Jalandhar when an out-of-control XUV car struck and killed a 3-year-old toddler near Kishanpura. The child, identified as Tripur Hans, was on his way with his family for a mundan ritual when the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 am.
The child’s uncle, Harish, emotionally recalled the family’s joy after an eight-year wait for the child’s birth. “We prayed to Mata Rani, and after eight long years, our child was born. Today, we were taking him for his mundan ritual when this accident happened,” he said.
The driver of the car fled the scene after hitting not only the child but also a dog. However, police from Rama Mandi police station arrested the driver shortly afterward, along with the vehicle. The police have taken the child’s body for postmortem and are investigating the case, with the vehicle number now in their possession.
The family has urged authorities to take strict action against the accused driver.
