Chandigarh, May 15: After the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the adventure of IPL will start once again from May 17. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the schedule for the remaining matches of the season and instructed the franchises to collect all their players. However, some foreign players have indicated their unavailability for the rest of the season. In such a situation, IPL has decided to give relief to the teams.
The teams got permission to temporarily add alternate players
The BCCI has given permission to teams to add temporary substitutes for the remaining matches of the IPL. Actually, some foreign players are unavailable for the upcoming matches. According to the original schedule, the final of the IPL was to be held on May 25, but now it will be held on June 3, which will make it difficult for the players joining the national team to play in it.
IPL gave respite to the teams
Some players are not coming back due to personal reasons while players like Jamie Overton who represented Chennai Super Kings in the current season will remain in UK for the limited overs series against the West Indies at home. According to information IPL said, ‘We have had to temporarily suspend IPL 2025 as a result of which it has to be completed after the predetermined date of 25 May 2025, so we have re-evaluated the provisions related to substitute player. In view of the unavailability of some foreign players due to national commitments or personal reasons or due to injury or illness, temporary substitute players will be allowed to be selected till the conclusion of this tournament.’
The IPL added, ‘This decision is subject to the condition that temporary substitutes taken beyond this point will not be eligible to be retained in the following year.’
