DHARAMSALA, May 15 — Days after the Indian Army’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Dharamsala on Thursday to celebrate the Armed Forces and express national solidarity.
The tricolour rally began at Kotwali Bazaar and was spearheaded by senior BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Thakur, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, praised the armed forces for what he called a “strategic and morale-boosting operation.”
“All Indians stand united in pride for our Armed Forces,” Thakur said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic approach has not only strengthened national defence but has also succeeded in isolating Pakistan on the global stage.”
The yatra, according to Thakur, symbolised national unity and pride. He credited Indian scientists and indigenous weapon systems for the success of the operation. “The power demonstrated by our forces, equipped with homegrown technologies, has dealt a significant blow to Pakistan,” he added.
Dr Rajiv Bindal, President of BJP’s Himachal Pradesh unit, echoed the sentiment. Applauding what he termed as a ‘non-contact war’, Bindal said the operation’s success lay in striking precise targets across the border without ground incursion. “Even the world’s strongest nations are now taking note of India’s military capability, achieved through indigenous innovation,” he said. “This transformation has come through the vision and resolve of Prime Minister Modi.”
The event also saw participation from a host of prominent BJP figures including Kangra MP Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj, BJP state General Secretary Trilok Kapoor, and local MLAs Sudhir Sharma (Dharamsala), Pawan Kajal (Kangra), Vipan Parmar (Sulah), and Ranbir Nikka (Nurpur). Hundreds of party workers marched with the tricolour, raising slogans in support of the Armed Forces and national unity.
The Tiranga Yatra concluded with a reaffirmation of BJP’s commitment to national security and indigenous defence capabilities.
