Chandigarh, April 24: Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh has described the departure of several Rajya Sabha MPs to the BJP as a failed attempt to undermine the administrative stability of Punjab. Addressing the media on Friday, Singh stated that the defectors had benefited from the party’s support only to abandon it when faced with pressure from the CBI and ED. He affirmed that the Bhagwant Mann-led government remains resilient despite what he described as the BJP’s predatory political tactics.
Singh maintained that the lawmakers had betrayed the people of Punjab by joining a party that lacks a strong electoral base in the region. He asserted that the BJP’s unease with the progress of the current Punjab administration prompted the use of federal agencies to target AAP members. By going to that party, do you think that you will bring some revolution? Singh asked, citing the BJP’s history with electoral bonds and the farm laws as evidence of its misalignment with local interests.
The party leadership affirmed that the use of “Operation Lotus” tactics serves as an admission of the BJP’s inability to win over Punjab through traditional democratic means. Singh declared that the lawmakers who joined the BJP had backstabbed the voters who placed them in power. He stated that the people of Punjab would not overlook the timing of these moves, particularly regarding leaders who were under active investigation until they switched sides.
