New Delhi, August 7 — Social media platform Meta has faced sharp criticism from Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal following the regional restriction of his Instagram profile across India. The political leader declared that the restriction reflects a broader effort to suppress public debate surrounding key issues like fuel policy and examination integrity.
Detailing his interaction with the company, Kejriwal stated that outreach to Meta’s India operations failed to clarify why the account was limited or how normal access could be restored. He maintained that routine communications from his team were met solely with standard automated replies.
The AAP convenor asserted that suppressing prominent opposition handles sets a concerning precedent for ordinary users expressing dissent online.
“If they can do this to me, I can only imagine what they must be doing to ordinary people,” Kejriwal affirmed, calling on affected account holders to submit details of their restrictions for a combined appeal.
Tagging corporate accounts online, the leader warned against complying with political demands that curtail open digital discourse. He maintained that failure to resist external pressure would ultimately undermine the digital freedom guaranteed to users nationwide.
